Russian striker Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin scored an assistant double in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season home match against Anaheim Ducks. This is reported by CapitalsPR in Twitter.
The 36-year-old Russian striker scored 40th and 41st points (20 goals plus 21 assists) in his 26th game this season. Thus, Ovechkin broke his personal record for the speed of gaining 40 points, which he set in the 2009/2010 season in the 28th match.
The game took place in Washington DC at the Capital One Arena stadium. The meeting ended with the hosts’ victory in shootouts – 4: 3.
In total, during his career in the NHL, Ovechkin took part in 1223 matches, in which he recorded 750 goals and gave 610 assists. This season, the hockey player has scored 20 goals in 26 games.
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. As part of Washington, the hockey player won the Stanley Cup in the 2017/2018 season.
