The RFU said that they did not receive requests for the transfer of Sevikyan to the Armenian national team
The Russian Football Union (RFU) reacted to the refusal of the player of the club of the Russian Premier League (RPL) “Paris Nizhny Novgorod” Edgar Sevikyan to play for the Russian national team. The comment of the press service of the organization leads “Match TV”.
“Edgar Sevikyan has Russian football citizenship. At the moment, the RFU has not received any inquiries regarding Sevikyan from the Football Federation of Armenia and the International Football Federation (FIFA),” the statement said.
Earlier, Sevikyan, called to the September meeting of the national team, announced his refusal to accept an invitation to the Russian national team. “I have already decided to play for the Armenian national team,” he explained.
The Russian national team has not played in international tournaments since February 2022 due to sanctions by FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations.
