The player “Paris Nizhny Novgorod” Sevikyan refused to play for the Russian national team
Footballer “Paris Nizhny Novgorod” Edgar Sevikyan refused to play for the Russian national team. His words are given in the Telegram channel of the club of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
Sevikyan was among the 49 players called up for the September training camp of the national team. “At the moment, I must inform you that I will not be able to accept an invitation to the Russian national team, as I have already decided to play for the Armenian national team,” he said, thanking the coaching staff for appreciating his work.
Sevikyan has been playing for Paris NN since July 2022. His current agreement with the team runs until 2025. In total, the 22-year-old midfielder played 25 matches for the Nizhny Novgorod team in all competitions, in which he scored four goals and one assist.
The Russian national team has not played in international tournaments since February 2022 due to the sanctions of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations.
