The Ukrainian Dota 2 team withdrew from the World Championship, which takes place in Romania, due to the decision of the International Computer Sports Federation (IESF) to allow Russia to compete. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The Russians do not participate in the current tournament, the Ukrainian e-sportsmen decided to withdraw during the championship.
On Monday, August 28, the Ukrainian team met in the playoffs with a team from Kyrgyzstan, the match ended with a score of 0:2. Ukraine refused to play against Indonesia, the team was given a technical defeat.
In early August, it was reported that the Ukrainian eSports Federation punished Team Spirit Dota 2 team members. Ilya Yatoro Mulyarchuk and Miroslav Mira Kolpakov were sanctioned for playing in the same team with Russians Denis Larl Sigitov, Magomed Collapse Khalilov and Yaroslav Miposhka Naydenov.
The decision of the IESF to remove the neutral status from the Russians was announced on August 28. The ban for Russians to participate in tournaments with national symbols has been in effect since April 2022. During this period, esportsmen performed in a neutral status.
