Daily Mail: FIFA wanted to ban the head of Spanish football for 15 years
The International Football Federation (FIFA) wants to suspend the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales for 15 years. It is reported by the Daily Mail.
It is clarified that this is the maximum possible suspension period provided for in such a situation. On August 26, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee temporarily released Rubiales from his duties. The suspension is for 90 days. It comes into force on August 26 and will last until the start of disciplinary proceedings against the functionary.
On August 24, FIFA opened a disciplinary case against Rubiales due to an incident at the tournament. Later, former Spanish footballer Ana Romero urged him to leave the federation.
At the awards ceremony, Rubiales put on Spain captain Hermoso a medal and kissed the player on the lips. This drew criticism from the media and Spanish politicians. After the scandal, Rubiales apologized and stated that he did it without malicious intent.
