The competition brings together a batch of 120 cyclists who will travel through eight provinces of the country to complete a route of 1,217.8 kilometers.
The 38th edition of the Cycling Tour of Ecuador begins this Wednesday, December 8 in Guayaquil, a race of eight stages and 1,217.8 kilometers of route. The proof is of category 2.2 of the International Cycling Union and closes the 2021 America Tour calendar.
The return starts at sea level, with four days on flat terrain, to from the fifth day enter high ground, where the champion will be defined.
Guayaquil opens the route, with a first stage that goes up to Villamil Beaches, a journey of 115.3 kilometers. The second is the longest stage, with 226 kilometers between Salinas and Manta, starting city for the third day that goes until Quevedo (191 kilometers), and continued until Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, with the 102.5 kilometers that close the route on flat terrain.
Sangolquí-Ibarra (139 kilometers) will be the first day on high ground, in the fifth stage. The sixth comprises a fraction of 159 kilometers between Ibarra and Tulcan, the considered queen stage of the national round. The seventh fraction will reach First (185 kilometers) and the final will be the circuit in Quito, of 100 kilometers, with closure at the foot of the monument to the Middle of the World.
