Conor McGregor to fight Michael Chandler in December 2023
Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor has announced a duel with American Michael Chandler in December 2023. About this athlete wrote on social network X (formerly Twitter).
McGregor posted a screenshot from the UFC Fight Pass, which shows his fight with Chandler as the main event of UFC 296. The UFC 296 tournament is scheduled for December 17 and should be held in Las Vegas.
On August 21, the 35-year-old Irishman complained about the ban on fighting in December 2023. “Imagine what a trauma it is – I feel like they are depriving me of my livelihood,” McGregor said. Who specifically forbade him to enter the octagon, he did not specify, however, it is probably the American Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The Irish fighter dropped out of the testing pool following an extended downtime following an injury in his last fight against Dustin Poirier. Under USADA rules, McGregor must be in the testing pool for at least six months before returning to competition.
In 2023, McGregor and Chandler took part in the filming of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter. At the end of the season of the project, the fighters who acted as coaches in it were supposed to fight, but it never took place.
McGregor is a former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion. The Irishman has 22 wins and six losses. The 37-year-old Chandler has 23 wins and 8 losses in his professional career.
