Coach Louis van Gaal believes that the next clash of the Netherlands already world Cupagainst Ecuadorwill be “more difficult” than the last match against Senegalwhich gave victory to “A Clockwork Orange” by 2 to 0.

“Ecuador is a more organized opponent than Senegal, this will be more difficult. With possession of the ball, we have to do better. They don’t score many goals, but they don’t concede either. It’s a stable team, physically strong”, he commented in the press conference this Thursday, on the eve of the game, whose winner has great chances of qualifying for the round of 16 of the tournament.

Defender Denzel Dumfries, who was also present at the interview, has similar opinions to the coach. “Ecuador have a great team. We saw that against Qatar and in the qualifiers. They are not afraid of duels. We must be more effective than against Senegal”, he commented.

Van Gaal, however, declined to comment on whether Memphis Depay, who played against the Senegal team after two months out with a thigh injury, will start the game.

“Starting Depay? If I reveal who will start, they will know too much. I don’t know if (Enner) Valencia will play or not and that makes a big difference. Not only in terms of quality, but also in terms of system. Memphis played half hour (against Senegal), the next stage will be forty-five minutes. The injury he has makes it difficult to know when he can return. I consider him incredibly important, that’s why we act like this”, he reiterated.
