FIFA Council member Evelina Kristellin said about fraud in voting for the World Cup in Russia
Member of the Board of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Evelina Kristellin, said about fraud in the voting for the holding of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Her words are quoted by Football Italia with reference to Radio Capital.
Kristellin drew attention to the oddities in the double vote on Russia in 2010. She said that only the executive committee participated in it, and not all the federations, as happened later. “It was clearly a rigged vote. Someone paid for it. The question was only in the distribution of “envelopes”,” the FIFA member said.
On November 8, former FIFA chief Joseph Blatter spoke about his communication with Russian leader Vladimir Putin after Russia received the right to host the 2018 World Cup. Then Putin said that Blatter became his friend.
The World Championship was held in Russia in 2018. The winner was the French team. The Russian team reached the 1/4 finals, where they lost to the Croatian team in a penalty shootout.
