The Italian Lorenzo Milesi is the first leader of the 78th edition of the Tour of Spain behind the DSM triumph in the time trial initial disputed in Barcelona on a route of 14.8km.
The DSM surprised by taking the time trial with a time of 17:30 minutes, 53 hundredths better than MovistarSecond classified.
Among the favorite teams, Soudal de evenepoel was fourth, 6 seconds behind the winner, the Jumbo of roglic and vingegaard to 32 and the UAE of Juan Ayuso to 37.
The rainstorm was very much to blame for the result of the time trial. Few wanted to risk more than necessary on the first day of the race. Evenepoel managed to take advantage of 25 seconds compared to Roglic and Vingegaard, the enemies of the Jumbo Visma and 30 compared to Juan Ayuso (UAE Emirates).
This Sunday the second stage will be held, the first in line, between Mataró and Barcelona, a medium-mountain day with a distance of 182 km.
