Cameroon national team player Ondua expressed support for Russian football players suspended from the World Cup
Midfielder of the Cameroon national football team Gael Ondua, who also has Russian citizenship, addressed the Russian players during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. His words are quoted by RB Sport.
Ondua expressed his support for the team suspended from the tournament. “Hold on and work as hard as you can, no matter what. I am sure that we can all make Russia better, no matter what happens, ”the footballer said.
On November 10, Ondua revealed that he was happy to have the opportunity to perform in Qatar. “But I always say openly: Russia is my home. And it’s good that I can represent the Russian people at such a big tournament,” he stressed.
Ondua has passports from Cameroon and Russia, as his father worked at the African country’s embassy. The footballer played for the youth squads of the Moscow Lokomotiv and CSKA, as well as for the Makhachkala Anji.
The World Cup in Qatar started on November 20 and will last until December 18. The Russian national team does not participate in the tournament due to the sanctions of the International Football Federation.
