Esmantovich said that CSKA will not have a war with the NHL because of the hockey player Fedotov
The President of Moscow CSKA Igor Esmantovich spoke about the “war” with the National Hockey League (NHL) because of the goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“Strange things. Who needs this war? Who to steal? For what? Do we have just so many players who can play in the NHL in the first team? asked Esmantovich. He stressed that the North Americans refused to work with the Continental Hockey League (KHL) for more than a season.
Fedotov was disqualified on August 14. The suspension will be in effect for four months. The army team was also banned from international transfers for a year. The International Ice Hockey Federation refused CSKA to register a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s current agreement with Philadelphia.
On July 1, Fedotov signed a contract with CSKA. The NHL expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, as it violates the goalkeeper’s current agreement with Philadelphia, concluded in May 2022. At the same time, the Russian tried to fly to the United States, but he was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of evading military service. After that, the player was sent to serve in the Russian Navy. A year later, the athlete was demobilized.
