Shabalkin is known for playing for Khimki, Lyubertsy Triumph, Krasnodar Lokomotiv-Kuban and Kazan UNICS. He is the European champion in 2007 and the bronze medalist of the European Championship 2011 as part of the Russian team. The forward retired in 2013.
