Javier Burrai, since his arrival at Barcelona SC in 2020, has become a figure for the Canaries, with whom he won the Liga Pro title that season and was the hero of that final against Liga de Quito, saving penalties in the decisive series.
In the middle of 2022, the Argentine goalkeeper announced that he has started the procedures to obtain Ecuadorian citizenship and according to his estimation, he believes that this will happen this year.
Carlos Alfaro Moreno, president of the Yellows, said during a press conference on Wednesday that it was “imminent” for the goalkeeper to be naturalized.
“We are expecting notification together with our legal department and we know that this naturalization is inevitable,” he said.

“It doesn’t mean it will happen tomorrow, but it will happen, we spoke to Javier and he is calm,” added the Canaries boss.
Alfaro Moreno also highlighted the performances the goalkeeper has had and believes his nationalization is “deserved”.
“He is a boy who, in addition to fulfilling the necessary conditions, has made the necessary merits, in sports matters, so that not only Barcelona fans think they deserve it, but also the whole country”, concluded the Canarian president. (D)
