Domnina said that Kostomarov decided to go on the ice with her
The wife of the 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov, Oksana Domnina, spoke about her husband’s decision to go on the ice. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The athlete said that the decision was joint. “Roma wanted me to return to the ice. And I am very glad that we are here together, our whole family is here. It is a great happiness that we have come here,” she stressed.
The exit of the 46-year-old athlete on the ice took place during the gala show of Ilya Averbukh “Letters of Love” in Sochi at the Iceberg Ice Palace on August 22. He took part in the room with Domnina and appeared to the audience.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die off. Doctors amputated both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
