“Lena will forever remain in the memory of Russian sports as a record holder, Olympic champion and outstanding athlete. This must always be remembered! the MP said.
At the same time, Rodnina condemned the statements of the ex-athlete. “In the recent situation, Isinbayeva got out as best she could. Therefore, her behavior caused such a reaction in people. In sports, there is a rule – fair play. She broke this rule in this situation, ”she added.
On July 12, El Digital Sur reported that the former athlete lives in Tenerife. Later, on her VKontakte page, Isinbayeva wrote that her awards and military rank from the CSKA sports society were nominal.
The statements of the athlete caused a public outcry. Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin criticized the words of the athlete. Later it became known that the Isinbayeva Track and Field Stadium in Makhachkala was renamed. Now the arena will be called “Trud”, it had this name until 2017.
