Ecuador among the nations that dominated athletics at the Junior Pan American Games | Other Sports | sports

The national team ranked third in the discipline, tied in gold medals with Cuba (9) and one with the United States.

This Sunday the first edition of the Junior Pan American Games, appointment that had Ecuador in seventh place in the overall medal table with 53 medals, of which 13 gold leave the tricolor delegation as one of the dominant nations in athletics.

This discipline awarded 45 gold medals in its different modalities, of which nine went to Ecuador, third in the athletics medal table, matched in gold medals with Cuba and one from Brazil, two powers on the continent. Together, the three nations reached 28 gold medals, 62.22%.

Anahi Suarez was consecrated in 100 and 200 flat meters, modality in which the also Ecuadorian Anderson Marquínez went up to the podium to hang the gold.

The tricolor delegation reached gold also with Marcos Herrera in 100 meters with hurdles and in the 4×400 relays male with Katriel Angulo, Alan Minda, Steeven Salas and Marquínez himself.

Ecuador had dominance in the 20 kilometers walk, modality in which he won with Glenda Morejón and David Hurtado.

Javelin throw had as its best exponent Juleisy Angulo and pole vault to Dyander Pacho, medals with which Ecuador completed a superb performance.

The Ecuadorians also took the podium to hang silver and bronze medals.

Austin Ramos won silver and accompanied Pacho on the podium, with which Ecuador made it 1-2 in pole vault. Also a second place went to the team of 4×100 male reliefs, integrated to Marquínez, Angulo, Salas and Kevin Simisterra.

The medal table of Ecuador in athletics completed the bronzes from Frixon Chila, in triple jump, and that of the women’s team 4×100 with Andreina Minda, Nicole Caicedo, Nicole Chalá and Suárez.

They were 11 days of general competition that, in addition to an outstanding performance in athletics, left Ecuador in seventh place in the general medal table with a total of 53 medals, with 15 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals.

For Ecuador they also won medals of gold Bryan Garboa in judo, Iván Escudero and Bella Paredes in weightlifting, Lucia Yepez in fight, Andres Torres in modern pentathlon and the mixed triathlon team, integrated to Nancy Lojano, Paula Vega, César Criollo and Gabriel Terán.

The performance in Cali, in the start of the Olympic cycle for Paris 2024, also ensured the participation of first 20 Ecuadorians in the Pan American Games older than Santiago de Chile will organize in 2023. (D)
