Manchester United claim victory in Ralf Rangnick’s debut as manager

Fred scored the only goal to beat Crystal Palace and score three optimistic points for the Red Devils future.

A great goal from Fred began the Ralf Rangnick era at Manchester United with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. The Brazilian kicked off the squad to turn the dominance and good play of the Red Devils into three optimistic points for the future.

The German coach, in his first game in office, motivated the team to press, to play a lot in the Palace field and to feel dominating the game, something that United have lacked in recent years.

And the truth is that United showed a great improvement compared to what was seen this season and at the time of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but for 80 minutes he missed his best weapon: the goal. Neither Cristiano Ronaldo, starter, nor Bruno Fernandes, nor Jadon Sancho, nor Marcus Rashford hit the key to beat Vicente Guaita.

It had to be Fred, singled out against Arsenal for causing the first goal of the Gunners stepping on De Gea, the one who unbalanced the game with a goal from outside the area. The Brazilian midfielder received a short pass from Mason Greenwood and created a parable to the squad much to Rangnick’s delight.

The goal allows United to start a new era with optimism and with three points that hooks him into the fight for the Champions League places, the great goal for the second part of the season. The ‘Red Devils’ are sixth, with 24 points, three behind West Ham United, which now sits in fourth place.

Patrick Vieira’s Palace continues to alternate between good and irregular matches and is twelfth with 16 points, six above relegation. (D)
