On July 28, another Russian grandmaster changed the flag. 28-year-old Vladimir Fedoseev said that he plans to play for Slovenia. “This is a life changing decision. This is a forced decision. I no longer want to play for Russia in any competition, ”he said.
FIDE has allowed Russian and Belarusian chess players to compete in international competitions under a neutral flag until January 1, 2024. After this period, athletes will be returned the right to compete under the flag of their country, unless another decision is made before that.
