Boxer Johnson, who changed his name in honor of Putin, called the removal of the Russians madness

American boxer Kevin Johnson, who changed his name in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin, appreciated the removal of Russian athletes from international competitions. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

The athlete called the decision insane. “A plague has struck the world. You didn’t do anything bad to me, I didn’t do anything terrible to you. What’s the difference between us? Why are Russians rejected? he said.

Johnson said he changed his name in honor of Putin on August 9. The boxer noted that now his name will be Kevin Vladimirovich, and stressed that he wanted to make the greatest compliment to the president. The 43-year-old athlete spent 58 fights in the professional ring and won 35 victories.

On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of the two countries are proposed to be suspended from starts.

At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended Russians and Belarusians from tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC.
