Mushuc Runa beat Guayaquil City 3-0 this Wednesday, sinking them to last place in the Table of positions and currently has reached the leadership of the Ecuadorian football championship, when the third term of the second phase of the tournament is played.

Mushuc Runa collected seven points against the four from Barcelona and Liga de Quito, who will close the day next Friday with games against Independiente del Valle and El Nacional.

With assists from Nigerian Jimmy Evans, Argentinean Diego Ledesma scored the first two goals, and his compatriot Sergio González used a pass from Colombian Kelvin Osori to realize the third. Three goals in the first 22 minutes.

The high pressure, attacking rotation and passing accuracy of Mushuca Runa broke the traditional defensive system that City had developed.

Therefore, coach Pool Gavilánes made an urgent change, rearranged the line of three defenders, took out Jhon Narváez and, along with Kevin Becerra and Dario Aimara, arranged a line of four defenders with William Vargas and Roger Arias, with which he left no space for the local attackers.

For its part, Orense enjoyed a 0-2 victory away from Gualace and added five points.

The goals in Orense’s victory were scored by Roberth Burbano from the penalty spot, after fouls by Senegalese defender Ousmane N’Dong and forward Christian Solano.

The victory allowed the visitors to strengthen their bid to qualify for next year’s Copa Sudamericana at the end of the current season, while Gualaceo were among the bottom of the accumulated table, following two defeats and a draw.

The third term continues this Thursday with matches: Libertad-Delfín; Catholic University-Aucas and University Technician-Emelec. (D)
