Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, recently hired by Arsenalsuffered an “injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee”, announced the club this Wednesday (16).
The player injured himself in the second half of Saturday’s victory over Nottingham Forest by 2-1, in the first round of the Premier League.
“Jurrien will have surgery in the next few days and will be sidelined for some time,” Arsenal said, without giving further details of the recovery period.

The 22-year-old Dutch youngster arrived at the club in mid-July, signed for 40 million euros (R$ 217 million at current prices) from Ajax.
Timber officially debuted for Arsenal in the FA Super Cup decision on August 6, which ended with the London team’s victory on penalties over Manchester City.
