RFU announced the start of negotiations with Bahrain on holding a friendly match
The Russian Football Union (RFU) has named a potential opponent of the national team for a friendly match. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The RFU said that they are negotiating with the Bahrain Football Federation. The organization emphasized that they would announce the match as soon as the contract for its holding was signed.
On August 6, it became known that the RFU had submitted a request to the Mali Football Federation to hold a friendly match. It was noted that the match could take place in September. In addition, the Russian side is interested in meeting with China.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to fight for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
