Neymar explains his choice for Al-Hilal: “I always wanted to be a global player”

Neymar was announced as a new reinforcement for Al-Hilal this Tuesday and has even posed with the shirt of the Saudi club. After signing a contract, valid for two seasons, at the Four Seasons George V Hotel, in Paris (France), the Brazilian explained his choice to move to Saudi Arabia at the age of 31.

“I achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special moments, but I always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places,” he said.

“I want to write a new story in the sport, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players right now. I’ve heard a lot and learned that I’m following a long list of Brazilian players who have played in Saudi Arabia over the years, so I believe that this is a desired place,” he added.

Neymar celebrated new bond with Al-Hilal

In addition, Neymar celebrated the new bond with the “best club in Asia” and declared that he was right in the decision to choose Al-Hilal. Finally, he reinforced his desire to continue winning and scoring goals in the Arab country.

“Al-Hilal is a huge club with fantastic fans and is the best in Asia. It gives me a feeling that it’s the right decision for me, at the right time, with the right club. I love winning and scoring goals and I plan to continue doing that in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal.”

For the player’s permanent transfer, Paris Saint-Germain should receive around 90 million euros (R$ 490 million). With that, the star will win the most expensive hiring position in the history of Saudi football, displacing striker Malcom, formerly of Zenit and Corinthiansalso brought by Al-Hilal, which cost 60 million euros (R$ 326 million). Peixe is entitled to 4% of the total value of the negotiation for being Neymar’s training club.

At the new club, Neymar will have a salary of 160 million euros (about R$ 860 million), divided into two years of contract. Therefore, the player will receive approximately BRL 36 million per month. In addition, he will continue to wear shirt number 10, the same number he wore at PSG and Brazilian Team.

Still in Paris, Neymar underwent medical examinations last Monday, was approved and all documents are signed. The expectation was that the striker would travel to Saudi Arabia this Tuesday, but plans have changed and the expected arrival date is for the end of the week. He is expected to be immediately available for the new club.
