Luis Ángel Maté, from the Euskaltel-Euskadi team, won this Tuesday the sixth stage of the Cycling Volta a Portugal, after which the new leader is Russian Artem Nychfrom Grassdrive/Q8/Anicolor and second at the finish line.

Maté achieved victory on Tuesday after 4 hours, 24 minutes and 59 seconds of travel between the towns of Penamacor and Guarda, over 168.5 kilometers. He passed Artem Nych, second to 14 secondsand the also Spanish Iván Cobo (Kern Pharma Team), third to 47.

Overall, Nych is in first place, followed by Spaniard Delio Fernández (APHotels and Resorts-Tavira), who led after winning Monday’s stage and is now 27 seconds behind. Third is the Swiss Colin Stüssi (Team Vorarlberg), 30 behind.

Luis Angel Maté is fifth overall, just behind his partner Txomin Juaristi (Euskaltel-Euskadi).

The seventh stage It will take place this Wednesday and will link the towns of Torre de Moncorvo and Montalegre on a 162.6-kilometre journey.
