Porto wins Moreirense in debut for the Portuguese Championship; Benfica loses to Boavista

On Monday afternoon, the Porto visited Moreirense, at Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, in Cónegos (POR), for the first round of the Portuguese Championshipand won by 2 to 1. Frimpong opened the scoring for the hosts, but Toni Martínez and the Brazilian Wendell, who ended up expelled in stoppage time, turned to the visitors.

Thus, the Dragons, runners-up last season, have the first three points in the competition. Thus, they are in sixth place. In turn, the newly promoted Moreirense appears in 13th place, with zero goals.

In the next round, therefore, Porto receives Farense, at 2 pm (Brasília time) on Sunday (20), at Estádio do Dragão, in the city of Porto (POR). On Monday afternoon, starting at 4:15 pm, Moreirense will visit Famalicão, at Estádio Municipal 22 de Junho, in Vila Nova de Famalicão (POR).

Benfica suffers upset against Boavista and debut with defeat

In another game of the first round of the Portuguese this Monday, the Benfica visited Boavista, at Estádio do Bessa Século XXI, in the city of Porto (POR), and lost 3-2. Ángel Di María and Rafa Silva scored for the visitors, while Bozenik (twice) and Bruno Lourenço ( penalty) scored the home goals.

With the result, the current national champion debuts with defeat in the competition and is in 12th place. Boavista takes the fifth position, just behind Gil Vicente, Casa Pia, Rio Ave and Arouca, respectively.

Now, Benfica returns to the field for the second round next Saturday, at 4:30 pm, when they receive Estrela Amadora, at Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon (POR). At the same time, Boavista faces Portimonense, away from home.
