Biathlon Federation of Ukraine urged to exclude Russia from all sports unions
President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine Ivan Krulko called for the exclusion of sports federations of Russia and Belarus from international unions. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Ukrainian organization.
“It is necessary not only to ban the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions, but also to exclude their sports federations from international unions,” he said.
On July 26, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, made a new statement about the participation of Russians in the 2024 Games. He noted that the decision on the admission of athletes will depend on the development of the situation.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be admitted to the competitions in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in starts.
