67 Russians have changed sports citizenship since 2022. This became known to TASS.
According to the source, in the period from 2022 to 2023, 47 people from summer Olympic sports changed their passports, as well as eight people from winter Olympic sports. In addition, 12 athletes of non-Olympic sports changed their citizenship.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus, associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries, are recommended to be suspended from starts.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended Russians and Belarusians from tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC. The decision on the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the 2024 Games has not yet been made.
