Enzo Fernández reveals conversation with Pochettino and talks about Messi in MLS: “I wasn’t happy at PSG”

Enzo Fernández was one of the highlights of the Chelsea in the last season. Now under the command of also Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, the midfielder opened the game and revealed that he had a conversation with the coach to explain which position he likes to play in and define what his position will be on the field.

“I recently spoke with Mauricio (Pochettino) about which position I feel most comfortable in. I like to play looser, with freedom. The role I will fulfill this year will be a second ‘five’, but I will have more freedom, without the responsibilities I had in the season playing as the only five”, said Fernández in an interview with ESPN argentina.

“Now, with a pivot at my side, I will obviously have much more freedom to move forward, but without forgetting to defend, of course. I have to help the team in this way”, continued the world champion with Argentina in 2022.

Enzo Fernández also spoke about the new stage of his compatriot’s career Lionel Messiwho went to Inter Miami, from the United States, after the end of his contract with Paris Saint Germain. The midfielder stated that he is very happy for the number 10 and highlighted that the striker was not happy in the French team.

“I’m very happy for him and for the moment he’s going through now that he’s changed clubs and cities. You can see that he’s much happier, enjoying himself with his family. At PSG, he wasn’t happy and now that he’s changed teams, he’s better. I’m happy for him,” said the Chelsea player.

Finally, the Argentina midfielder commented on another one of his compatriots when designing the debut duel in the Premier League, this Sunday, at 12:30 pm (Brasília time), against Liverpool. The match will mark the debut of Alexis Mac Allister with the number 10 shirt for the Reds. The attacking midfielder played alongside Enzo during the world Cup not Qatar.

“We are thinking of doing our job in the best way. We know that it is always important to win the opening match. On top of that, we are playing in our stadium (Stamford Bridge). It will demand a lot, from the emotional to the physical aspect”, punctuated Fernández .

The 22-year-old also concluded by saying he will swap shirts with Mac Allister. “I’m going to exchange shirts with Alexis. I already have Brighton’s (the attacking midfielder’s former team) and now I’ll ask for 10 from Liverpool”.

Enzo Fernández arrived at Chelsea last season. The English team paid 121 million euros (about R$ 649 million in current quotations) to the Benfica, from Portugal, to count on the midfielder. With the Blues shirt, the Argentine has already made 22 appearances and distributed two assists, but has not yet scored a goal.
