PSG asks Real Madrid to be punished for “lack of respect” with Mbappé

Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, Brazilian Leonardo, declared as “lack of respect” the way Real Madrid publicly harassed striker Kylian Mbappé to sign him. According to the leader, the attitude deserves to be punished.

“There is a work with Mbappé. They have been talking about him publicly for two years, as if it were normal. We have already informed Real Madrid on several occasions of our discontent,” said the Brazilian during an interview at the Sports Festival organized by the Italian newspaper The Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It is something that must be sanctioned. It’s a lack of respect”, insisted Leonardo, who specified that PSG’s objective remains the renewal of the striker’s contract, which ends on June 30, 2022.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez said last Tuesday that he expects Mbappé’s signing for the Spanish team to be “resolved” in January, when the player will be free to negotiate with any other team. Hours later, the manager said he was misinterpreted.

The Madrid team wanted to sign the Frenchman earlier this season, but the offer was rejected by PSG. Mbappé confirmed earlier this week in a radio interview RMC who informed PSG in the middle of this year of his intention to leave the club.

Leonardo denied any comparison in the way Real Madrid played their striker with the way the Parisian club acted to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Brazilian said he did not negotiate with the Italian club until Milan officially announced that it would not renew, as he was “a free player”.
