Tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya said she does not communicate with Russians at tournaments
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska spoke about how she interacts with Russian players during tournaments. It is reported by Sport.pl.
The athlete said that she does not communicate with the Russians. “Most of them ignore us, don’t even say hello. But I don’t care, I don’t even want to talk to them, ”said Yastremskaya.
On July 28, Yastremskaya asked the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) to punish 16-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva for liking her on social media. “She liked posts on social networks that were clearly related to actions committed against Ukrainians, and the WTA simply indicated that they would not interfere,” the Ukrainian woman said.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended Russians and Belarusians from tournaments on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. At the same time, the Russians continue to play in tournaments under the auspices of the WTA and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in a neutral status.
