Ex-tennis player Petrova spoke about the problems of the Russians in international tournaments
Bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games tennis player Nadezhda Petrova appreciated the attitude towards Russians at international tournaments. Her words are reported by Gazeta.Ru.
The ex-tennis player said that the Russians face various problems in low category tournaments. “There are bad situations. At some competitions, Russians are not paid for accommodation, they are not given an official car – yes, it even comes to such trifles, ”she shared.
Petrova noted that at the highest level, the problems are limited to refusal to shake hands and negative statements at press conferences. “As for the rest, it seems to me that tennis players are well received, friendly,” she concluded.
The Russians continue to play in tournaments under the auspices of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in a neutral status. At the same time, Ukrainian tennis players do not shake hands with Russians and Belarusians, and also do not take joint photos after matches.
