MLS has postponed the debut match of the football player Lionel Messi in the championship
Representatives of the North American Major League Soccer (MLS) on their website announced the postponement of the match between Inter Miami and Charlotte, which was supposed to be the debut for the Argentine striker Lionel Messi in the national championship.
The reason for the postponement is that both teams have reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup, which will be held on 12 August. It is noted that one of the two clubs will play on August 20 either in the League Cup final or in the match for third place.
Messi, 36, joined Inter Miami on July 15. His agreement with the American club runs until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
On August 7, Messi scored a double for Inter Miami in the third match in a row. He scored in the 1/8 finals of the League Cup against Orlando. Thus, Messi’s goals helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the tournament.
