Roberto Ibáñez sent a letter to the Minister of Sports where he notices the intention of the COE to postpone an international meeting.

By letter to the Minister of Sports, Sebastian Palacios, the president of the Guayas Sports Federation, Roberto Ibáñez, showed concern about the attempt of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) to postpone the assembly of the Bolivarian Sports Organization (Odebo) that must be held in Guayaquil this December 16, and where the candidacy of this city must be presented to organize the Bolivarian Sports Games 2025.

In the document, Ibáñez indicates: “The Bolivarian Sports Organization has shared its concern about the news you received of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee, in the sense that said institution intends to request the postponement of the ODEBO General Assembly, which is scheduled to take place in Guayaquil from December 16 to 19, 2021 ″.

The also president of the Ecuadorian Judo Federation adds that, in that assembly, “the COE should present the dossier from candidacy of this city (Guayaquil) as the venue for the Bolivarian Games”.

Ibáñez states: “In this regard, Odebo has informed me that the Assembly is not going to be postponed and will be held on the scheduled date; and, if the COE does not present the candidacy, the city that presents the petition will be chosen ”.

The leader, who also accompanied the Ecuadorian delegation and the Guayas athletes at the Cali-Valle 2021 Junior Pan American Games, recalls that, “in light of the above, Mr. Minister, and reiterating the commitment of Fedeguayas to assume the expenses involved in holding the Odebo Assembly, I share this information with the seriousness of it; Well, since the assembly was in Guayaquil, the dossier, having the President of the Republic issued his letter of commitment and, being an indicator of his management obtaining the headquarters of the Bolivarian Games for Guayaquil, this desire of the city comes to nothing ”.

The ex-Ecuadorian national team in judo states that “only for one incompressible posture of the COE, which would make the country, the city and the Government of the day look bad, I ask you to deign to take all the pertinent steps towards the presentation of the city of Guayaquil as a candidate by the COE ”.

Ibáñez in contact with Diario EL UNIVERSO indicated that as Fedeguayas They will take care of the lodging and food expenses of the Odebo delegates, as well as that they will cancel the 10,000 dollars that must be deposited before the presentation of the Guayaquil candidacy.

He stated that the estimated budget for the 2025 games reaches 24 million dollars, and that its financing is shared and must be defined by the organizing committee, which will be made up of representatives of the COE, Ministry of Sport, Fedeguayas and other institutions.

Through Carolina Vilches, Communication Director of the Ministry of Sports, a statement was requested from that State portfolio on Ibáñez’s request, and the official replied: “We will work on the answer”.

The same query was made to John Zambrano, vice president of the COE, and replied: “I cannot reply to a letter that is not addressed to me. And I haven’t even been copied. “

In addition, Zambrano was consulted that if it was true that the COE pretended to postpone the Odebo meeting that must be held in Guayaquil and if it is true that the entity to which he belongs has not shown interest in supporting the Guayaquil’s candidacy to organize the Bolivarian Games.
