Uefa authorizes Osasuna to participate in the Conference League

Osasuna announced this Tuesday that UEFA ended up deciding to allow their participation in the Conference League, the third most important competition among European clubs, after a previous exclusion that angered the Navarro club.

“Club Atlético Osasuna will compete in the 2023/24 Conference League after today (Tuesday) the proceedings at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) were closed by the Consent Award formula.

“Consequently, UEFA considers Osasuna fit to participate in this edition of the European competition”, he concluded.

Osasuna had finished the last Spanish League in seventh place, which gave them the right to play in the third edition of the Conference League.

However, the club complained at the end of June that UEFA wanted to leave him out of the tournament and that it had received a report from “UEFA inspectors” in which it declared the “club’s ineligibility”.

The reason for this exclusion would be a decision by the Spanish Supreme Court that condemned several former directors of the club for match-fixing in the 2013-2014 season.

Osasuna defended itself, alleging that the club’s current managers were “precisely the ones who filed a complaint with the Court, initiating legal actions to recover the money illegally stolen from the entity’s accounts and restore its good name”.

Earlier this month, Osasuna announced that it would appeal to the CAS against what it considered “a serious violation”.
