Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto supported the admission of all athletes to the Olympic Games
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto supported on Facebook (a social network banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) admission of all athletes to the Olympic Games.
“We spoke with International Olympic Committee (IOC) First Vice-President Ser Mian about how good it would be if sport became an instrument of peace, and if sport and geopolitics could be sharply separated,” he added.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be admitted to the competitions in a neutral status. At the same time, it is recommended that athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the Armed Forces or security agencies of their countries be suspended from participating in starts.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The decision on the admission of Russians to the competition has not yet been made.
