Russian figure skater Sergei Mozgov spoke about an incurable disease that arose due to injuries. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The athlete said that in 2020 he was diagnosed with Bechterew’s disease (a chronic joint disease with localization in the spine, the peculiarity of which is the fusion of bones – approx. “Tapes.ru”). “Not hereditary, but acquired due to injuries. This disease has no cure. I drink 6-8 tablets a day on a regular basis to keep myself in shape, ”he explained.
Mozgov added that he tries to lead an active lifestyle, as well as participate in cycling marathons. “This is second-degree spondyloarthrosis, something like that. I’m used to pain. It happens that the legs fail a little, they stop working, ”added the skater.
Mozgov performed in ice dancing paired with Betina Popova. Together they won the gold of the Universiade 2019, and also twice finished second in the Russian Cup final.
