UFC President Dana White explained why it is difficult to organize fights for the Swedish mixed-style (MMA) fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev. His words are quoted by MMA Junkie.
“Nobody wants to fight Chimaev. The guys are afraid of him. I’m 100 percent sure of that, ”White said. The head of the UFC stressed that in the place of the fighters he would seize the opportunity to fight with Chimaev, since he is one of the most dangerous and popular athletes of the promotion.
On November 30, Chimaev challenged three opponents at once. The athlete offered to fight Brock Lesnard, Georges Saint-Pierre and Daniel Cormier. He called the fighters legends and promised to beat each of them. Only Cormier answered Chimaev.
Chimaev has won four straight fights in the UFC. In his last bout at UFC 267, he defeated China’s Li Jingliang with a rear naked choke. In total, Chimaev has ten victories in ten fights.
Chimaev is a native of Chechnya. He left Russia at the age of 19 when his family moved to Sweden. The Chechen came to MMA from freestyle wrestling.
