On crutches, Veríssimo returns to Benfica’s CT to start a new phase of recovery

Brazilian defender Lucas Veríssimo returned to the CT of the Benfica, this Thursday, to start a new phase of his recovery. In early November, in a match against Braga, the athlete suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and had to undergo surgery. The player will be embezzled by the Portuguese until the end of this season.

In a video published on the club’s social networks, the former Santos player appeared on crutches and greeted his teammates.

This Friday, Jorge Jesus’ team has a tough confrontation with Sporting, for the 13th round of the Portuguese Championship. The Reds occupy the third place, with 31 points, one less than their rivals, who are in second place. Porto, with the same score as Sporting, is the tournament leader.

After this weekend’s derby, Benfica has another decisive game, this time for the Champions League. For the last round, seeking to qualify for the round of 16, the Portuguese face Dynamo Kiev, this Wednesday. To advance the stage, Encarnados need to win and hope that Barcelona doesn’t defeat Bayern Munich.
