The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit announced the possibility of revising the ban on the participation of Ukrainian athletes in competitions where Russian and Belarusian athletes will take part. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The official said that Ukrainians should take part in the qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. “Russia and Belarus will not be officially invited to the Olympic Games. That is, the flag and other symbols of Russia and Belarus will not be there, ”he stressed.
On January 26, Gutzeit said that the Ukrainian team could miss the 2024 Olympics if the teams of Russia and Belarus participate in it. Earlier, the International Olympic Committee noted that they are considering the possibility of individual admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to competitions.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
