The selection of USAthanks to a brace and an assist from Sophia Smiththrashed this Saturday Vietnam for 3-0but he will have to improve his aim if he wants to claim his third consecutive world crown.
Resoundingly superior to the Vietnamese from the initial whistle, the Americans left some shadows and points to improve, such as the penalty missed by one of their great stars, the forward Alex Morgano, or his very limited success generally face to door.
As a sample, the US did in total 27 shots (24 inside the area) but just eight of them went to goal and only three of them ended up in the network.
Sophia Smith put the Americans ahead with her two goals in the first half, and Lindsey Horan closed it out in the 77th minute of the second.
