Viner said that there is no need to pour dirt on Isinbayeva after the announcement of military ranks
President of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFCG) and coach Irina Viner stood up for two-time Olympic pole vault champion Elena Isinbayeva after her announcement of nominal military ranks. Viner’s words are quoted by TASS.
“Lena simply belonged to the Central Sports Club of the Army, which is why she said that she had a nominal relation to the army. And did she say something criminal? Viner said. She stressed that because of these words, Isinbaev “does not need to sling mud.”
On July 12, El Digital Sur reported that the former athlete lives in Tenerife. Later, on her page on VKontakte, she wrote that the awards and military rank she received from the CSKA sports society were nominal.
Isinbayeva, 41, is a major in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The three-time world champion has been on the International Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission since 2016.
