CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues arrives in Brisbane for Women’s World Cup debut

the president of CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, landed this Friday in Brisbane, Australia, and was received by the Brazilian delegation, commanded by Pia Sundhage. The Australian city will host the Brazilian women’s national team in the first phase of the world Cup.

Next Monday, at 8 am (Brasília time), Brazil will make its debut in the competition against Panama at Hindsmarsh Stadium, in Adelaide, and Ednaldo will be there to accompany the selection.

“Very happy to be here with the women’s team. The athletes are very happy and I see a very high-spirited atmosphere in the national team in general. We have to have a very strong union, a lot of focus so that we can have the best performance in this competition”, she said.

Before joining the national team, Ednaldo was present at the opening of the World Cup, in Auckland, New Zealand. In the first game, the home team beat Norway 1-0.

Ednaldo also recalled Brazil’s desire to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The president has already met with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Conmebol president Alejandro Dominguez since the opening of the World Cup.

“It was the first moment that the CBF manifested itself. We are working both bureaucratically and hand-to-hand, requesting votes well in advance so that we can host the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. I believe, God willing, that it will work out,” he said.
