Lightweight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Islam Makhachev on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) commented on the removal of the Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Umar Nurmagomedov from the fight as part of the promotion.
The athlete called injuries part of the game. “Patience will lead to success,” Makhachev wrote.
On the night of August 6, Nurmagomedov was supposed to head the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament for the first time in his career. The fighter did not enter the octagon due to a shoulder injury. The cousin of former promotion champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was scheduled to fight American Corey Sandhagen.
27-year-old Umar Nurmagomedov has 16 wins and no losses in MMA. He has four fights in the UFC.
