Pyunik’s player Kovalenko will miss the Conference League match due to Lithuania’s refusal to issue a visa
Pyunik Armenian midfielder Mikhail Kovalenko and head coach assistant Roman Monarev will miss the second leg of the first qualifying round of the Conference League due to Lithuanian sanctions. It is reported by “Championship”.
According to the source, the Lithuanian consulate in Armenia refused to issue Schengen visas to the football player and coach because of Russian citizenship. Thus, they will not help the team in the European Cup meeting against the Estonian Narva Trans, which will take place later than July 20.
Kovalenko has already faced the refusal of a Schengen visa in October 2022. Then he missed the Conference League match in Lithuania.
Kovalenko is a graduate of the St. Petersburg “Zenith”. Together with the Armenian Noah, he became the owner of the Cup and the Super Cup of the country. The footballer started playing for Pyunik in August 2022.
In September 2022, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, in order to protect public order and security, banned the entry of Russians holding Schengen visas issued by third countries. The ban applies to travel for the purpose of participating in sporting events.
