Shape experts advised to pause 1-2 minutes between sets during workouts
Fitness experts Shape magazine talked about proper rest between sets during a workout. Recommendations are given on the publication’s website.
“It is best to walk slowly, worse – to sit and completely undesirable – to lie down. If you’re thirsty, take a few sips of water,” experts said. They added that short pauses between sets (no more than one to two minutes) are necessary to saturate the muscles with oxygen and allow the body to recover.
Experts also note that long pauses are undesirable, since the pulse in this case slows down, and therefore, it will be more difficult for the body to get back to work. They emphasized that when the pace is lost, the results decrease, and the duration of the workout increases.
Earlier, fitness expert Stanislav Lysakovsky gave advice on recovery after training. “The first thing after a workout is to restore the water-salt balance: replenish fluid and micronutrient reserves,” he said, noting that nutrition plays an important role in recovery.
