Midfielder Jordan Henderson, captain of the Liverpoolwould be close to leaving the English club to sign with Al-Etiffaq, from Saudi Arabia, who recently hired ‘Reds’ idol Steven Gerrard as coach, reported the portal The Athletic this Wednesday.
According to the publication, there is already an agreement between Henderson and the Saudi club.
If the transfer is confirmed, the player would add to the growing list of prominent names in European football who have accepted offers to play in Saudi Arabia, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Roberto Firmino, among others.
According to The Athletic, Henderson would receive a salary of more than US$ 900 thousand (R$ 4.3 million in current quotation) per week. In addition, Al-Etiffaq would pay Liverpool 16 million euros (R $ 85 million) to have the player.
Henderson, 33, arrived at Liverpool in 2011 and has been captain of the team since 2015. For the club, he was champion of England in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019.
