Tuchel rocks Chelsea’s performance in victory over Watford: “We were lucky to win that game”

This Wednesday, the leader of the Premier League Chelsea visited Watford for the 14th round of the competition. Even with the victory by 2-1, the performance of the players did not please Thomas Tuchel, coach of the Blues.

”It was a very unusual performance on our part, we weren’t ready. I’m involved in this, I have to prepare my team. Obviously, I didn’t prepare them for what’s to come, because for the first time we were underperforming as a team completely,” he commented.

In the match, Mason Mount opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 29th minute, and, in the 43rd minute, Watford drew. The winning goal came at 27 of the final stage, with Hakim Ziyech.

”We don’t handle the first balls well, we don’t handle the pressure well, we don’t handle the second balls well. It’s one thing to win or lose challenges, but we haven’t even found them. We had the opportunity to talk about it at halftime. We tried to give easy messages because it was obvious that we struggled in construction,” continued Tuchel.

Even with the unhappy coach, Chelsea goes to 33 points in the table, enough to overcome the vice-leader Manchester City, with 32. For the next round, the team visits West Ham, at 9:30 am (GMT) this Saturday.

”I don’t think I was very critical of the players, we are critical of ourselves. We can admit that today we were lucky to win this game,” concluded the German.
