Carlo Ancelotti highlights Real Madrid’s good form

Or Real Madrid won Athletic Bilbao 1-0 this Wednesday, in a game postponed from the 9th game of LaLiga, thus consolidating itself in the first place of the championship. The triumph left coach Carlo Ancelotti satisfied, valuing the club’s good stage.

A goal by Karim Benzema (40) allowed Real Madrid to increase their advantage in the table to seven points over Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad, their most direct pursuers.

“We are in a good moment and I like the atmosphere in the team right now,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the match.

“Winning seven games in a row is not luck,” he added. “This Real Madrid has character. When we don’t win with quality, we have other assets we can use.”

After the kickoff given by tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid quickly took control of the match against Athletic, who tried to pressure the ‘merengues’ exit.

After half an hour, the ‘Leones’ could have opened the scoring with a header from Raúl García in the face of goal, after a cross from Iker Muniain, who was saved by Thibaut Courtois (27).

When Athletic was better, the Madrid goal came.

Benzema took advantage of a ball hit by Unai Simón after a shot by Marco Asensio to finish practically with an empty goal, making it 1-0 (40).

Athletic played a little more for the ball in the second half in search of the equalizer.

In the last minutes, the merengue team focused on defending themselves and trying to surprise on the counterattack, but the score didn’t change anymore.
