President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach appreciated the attitude of France towards the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Games in Paris. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Bach said he did not expect problems from the French authorities. “We adhere to the same approaches, French President [Эмманюэль Макрон] signed the G7 declaration in support of our position,” he stressed. The head of the IOC added that Russian athletes have already participated in competitions held in France and have not encountered any problems.

Earlier on July 18, the chairman of the organizing committee of the 2024 Games, Tony Estangue, said that a decision on the participation of the Russians would be made no earlier than September 2023. He stressed that it will be taken into account whether athletes receive permission from sports federations to participate in qualifying competitions.

The Olympic Games are to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
